Willy Rizzo (1928 – 2013) is a celebrated designer and photographer. Starting photography at the age of 12 by the 1960s he was photographing many celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Fred Astaire and Salvador Dali. When moving to Rome Willy Rizzo become dissatisfied with the furniture available, leading him to begin designing furniture.
His design works merge a range of materials from wood to fabric, to metal. Drawing on clean lines and spare forms from the European modernists and American mid-century movement, he prided himself in seamlessly blending the contemporary with the classic. This is ever present in all his works including this coffee table, with a sleek platformed surface alongside the classic Deco of the burled wood.
