A titan of Italian mid-century design, Vico Magistretti (1920–2006) was determined to pull the nation into a utopian future after the devastation of the Second World War. The approach ultimately led him to professorships at the Royal College of Arts in London and the Domus Academy in Milan. His work can be seen in major collections around the world including MoMA in New York and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
The Fiandra sofa followed the huge success of his Carimate chair and his first Compasso d’Oro in 1967. Composed of four modules, including a corner element, this configuration highlights the rational simplicity of the design, which prioritises comfort alongside purity of form. Wide padded armrests feel generous and informal.
Newly reupholstered in vintage-appearance heavyweight canvas.
