This intriguing hand carved chair is ornately adorned from head to toe with carved detailing. The Seat and backrest take the form of an open shell flanked either side with two scaly dragon-like creatures that act as armrests; the front legs, two spirals that taper from top to bottom. This chair has a lot of age and character to it. It most likely originates from Venice in the late 19th century.
The chair’s surface shows signs of wear and holes throughout. The original back legs were replaced in their lifetime, while the front legs have been reinforced. It has been professional thermo treatment, to ensure all old woodworm is spent.
