Four rods of iron rise from a square plinth. Designed to be viewed in the round, the sculpture reveals ever-shifting compositions of intersecting lines and shapes that emerge in negative space. The iron rods are rationalist and spare in form but highly textured and fluid on its surface that recalls Giacometti’s attenuated figures or natural forms such as roots or stalagmites.
The work was cast at the Dublin Art Foundry, a cooperative space that supported sculptors through the 1980s, including artists such as Yaan Renard Goulet and Edwin Ryan.
