Five wooden pilings mark a hazed dockland. Captured through long exposure, the scene dissolves into near-abstraction, with its vertical marks perhaps recalling ethereal Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints.
Californian photographer, Rolfe Horn (b.1971), captures black and white landscapes when light is at its most pliant: at night, in the early hours, capturing scenes where time seems to be held in suspense. Horn creates each photograph in the dark room, a devoted practice he started when a teenager.
A framed gelatin silver print, signed, dated and numbered ’38/45′. Can be bought individually, and also as a set. The frame matches the one used for our ‘Freeway Interchange Demolition #18’ print by Rolfe Horn.
