Pair of side tables in dark brown bakelite

There is a quiet symmetry to this pair of side tables. Each table is composed of three tiers: a smaller base, a cantilevered middle, and an inset top with inner corners that draw the eye inward.

The geometry is sparse but playful — cuboid forms arranged with rhythmic intent. With their block-like silhouette and solid presence, they recall Marco Bellini’s Gli Scacchi series. Brutalist in disposition, but softened by Bakelite, the tables have a satisfying heft and a subtle sheen — a smooth, tactile surface that catches the light.

In good vintage condition, featuring a few surface-level scratches.
