A pair of beautifully restrained LTE1 floor lamps by Luigi Caccia Dominioni. A rounded aluminium base acts as visual counterpoint to the nickel-plated brass uplighter. This early design would herald the conical Imbuto lamp of the following decade.
Milanese architect, furniture designer and centenarian Dominioni (1913–2016) won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award several times and proved instrumental in rebuilding Milan after the Second World War. He first made a name for himself in the design world through collaboration with brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, with whom he developed a series of cutting-edge radios. In 1947 he co-founded studio and manufacturer Azucena with Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua.
Even tarnishing to the brass, in line with age. Recently rewired and PAT tested to UK standards. Foot switch is fully functional.
