Italian architect Cesare Lacca was a pivotal player in introducing new and exciting modernist shapes to the somewhat conservative Italian tastes of the time. The details of his life remain a mystery, though keen collectors feel his innovative body of work speaks for itself.
A departure from the distinctive multi-level bar trolleys for which he is best known, Lacca’s seating designs embrace exaggerated curves which cocoon the sitter. This pair of rare loveseats wrap a wood frame in plump upholstered elements, including a rounded back, while wooden feet are obscured by the skirt.
The sofas are newly reupholstered in an ivory hemp fabric, with skirting and piping details carefully retained.
