A pair of oak side tables designed by Axel Einar Hjorth (1888–1959). The Swedish furniture designer was a chief designer for Nordiska Kompaniet, who was known for his singular minimalist vision in furniture design.
Regarded as a major contributor to the Swedish modern movement, Hjorth’s pair of oak side tables can be seen among his examples of sportstugemöbler, his 1930s series inspired by Swedish cabins, emphasising rustic, paired-back design.
The oak tables are in good condition, with some light marks on the tabletop that are consistent with age.
