A pair of Boxer chairs by Kwok Hoï Chan, manufactured by Steiner in the 1970s. Chan emigrated to the UK and later to France, but never lost sight of his heritage. His dynamic forms are said to resemble a fictional alphabet borrowed from Chinese calligraphy.
This louche cantilevered design is supported by a continuous chrome-plated tubular frame. Stud detailing on the upholstery helps sculpt the deep seat. The chairs have a generosity of form and are supremely comfortable.
There is some light age-related marking to the frames. The moleskin and felt black upholstery has been cleaned and is in good condition.
