Milanese architect, furniture designer and centenarian Luigi Caccia Dominioni (1913–2016) won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro award several times and proved instrumental in rebuilding Milan after the Second World War. He first made a name for himself in the design world through collaboration with brothers Livio and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, with whom he developed a series of cutting-edge radios.
In 1947 he co-founded studio and manufacturer Azucena with Ignazio Gardella and Corrado Corradi Dell’Acqua. Made from brass and frosted glass, their Bidone light is designed so that it can be adjusted to several heights. This is a versatile pair that could be used as bedside lights, in hallways or either side of a sofa.
In good vintage condition, with natural patination on the brass fixture. Recently rewired and PAT tested to UK standards.
