Jean-Michel Frank Straight Back armchair

A fine example of Jean-Michel Frank’s blocky rectangular club chair, officially reissued by Ecart in 1978. Designed in the 1930s, its simple yet sophisticated form remains undisputedly modern nearly a century later. It has recently been reupholstered in a sand mohair velvet.

Frank (1895-1941) was one of the most sought-after French interior and furniture designers of his time. He embraced the extravagance and rich materials of Art Deco while exploring the ideas of the modernist movement, alighting on elegant minimalism and ‘modestly luxurious’ design.
