Japanese vintage handwoven grain basket

A well-constructed folk art antique basket from Japan, makes for an ideal piece of household storage or fruit basket. Possibly woven from willow grain, bark or bamboo, this wabi-sabi vessel is tightly bound to hold small grains like rice, as well as larger items like gathered fruit.

Structurally sound with plenty of character and surface wear in line with age and frequent agricultural use. The basket is blackened and further sealed – potentially with dark clay or persimmon tannins.
