Jan Roth Metropolight lamp

Jan Roth is an experimental lighting designer who studied industrial design at the Royal College of Art in the late 6os. His Metropolight design caught the eye of Ingo Maurer who decided to manufacture it in very small numbers for the Design M catalogue. Roth’s design aesthetic is highly experimental and esoteric fitting in well with Ingo Maurer’s studio output.

The Metropolight lamp expressed a utopian future, formed from a futurist shape that tessellates into itself. Made from moulded open cell polystyrene, it emits a warm restrained light. Rewired and PAT tested for use in the UK.
