Ingo Maurer’s company Design M is based in Munich and has been designing intriguing lighting for over 40 years. Ingo Maurer’s output is distinctive in form and concept. His desire to innovate with material, process and aesthetic has lead to some highly eccentric works.
Maurer originally designed the Lampampe lamp in Germany, 1980. The lamp is formed of Japanese paper on a metal frame, creating a delicate crinkled texture across the body of the lamp. The paper produces a soft, completely glare-free light, delicately lighting any room. Ingo Maurer used paper within his works from the start focusing on all its qualities and beauty. As the phrase goes: paper makes rooms look better.
The paper on this early vintage edition has all the hallmarks of age and patina – a golden tone and small age spots that make it highly desirable and more characterful. There are a few tiny tears near the rim, paper conservation on request. Takes one E27 40w maximum bulb.
