Born in Dorset, British sculptor and painter Giles Penny (b. 1962) is an Academician of the Royal West of England Academy and a member of the selective Royal Society of Sculptors. His highly animated works, many on public display, depict mankind meeting objects, animals, weather, shapes – and ultimately itself – with movement and wit.
This untitled sculpture has a satisfying weight and dynamism. The rusted steel surface speaks to the flame-like void.
The steel surface is highly oxidised, with varying patination.
