Frank Schreiner (b.1959) is a German designer and artist known for his sardonic take on consumer culture. A key figure in the 1980s New German Design movement, his work spans holography, mail art, and stereoscopic photography. His best-known piece, Consumer’s Rest – a supermarket trolley contorted into a chair – is held in the collections of MoMA and the V&A.
This three-armed wall light, with flexible goose necks and a pared-back industrial form, reflects Schreiner’s playful critique of function and design convention. The necks and alternator covers are Honda and Suzuki parts.
