French sculptor and illustrator Charles Despiau (1874-1946) is celebrated as a leading talent of French early 20th-century sculpture. His classicism and empathetic approach to form are evident in this diminutive female nude in patinated bronze.
The piece is in good vintage condition and is signed by the artist. The provenance however is unknown, there is no foundry stamp, hence we market as ‘attributed’. It could possibly be a posthumous, period foundry or Estate casting.
