Brutalist coffee table with slate top

Netherlands, Late 20th century

£950 + VAT

This low coffee table pairs a familiar rationalist profile with the unexpected combination of chrome and slate. It is reminiscent of the production of Pia Manu, the 1960s workshop of Belgian designer Jules Dewaele, which approached the use of slate with a modernist sensibility. Resting on a cross-frame, the deep slab is rich with russet and verdigris tones.

In good vintage condition, with slight patination to the chrome. There is a minor chip to the slate top.
