Italian artist and designer Angelo Bragalini (1913–1994), best recognised for his talents as a sculptor, was also a technically skilled metalsmith. Set pieces for filmmaker Federico Fellini and gold work for the Vatican were quietly fabricated in his Bologna workshop.
This sizeable square mirror has a rounded profile, offering gentle projection from the wall. Repoussé refers to a decorative metalwork technique in which the material is hammered from the inside, here giving a consistent textural interest.
