Salvino Marsura Maschere floor lamp

Treviso, Italy, 2000s

£POA

The Maschere floor lamp joins mask-like forms around a central tangle of forged iron. The petal-like masks funnel light in varying directions, while revealing the cut and welded surfaces typical of Marsura’s later production.

The piece is in good condition with patination true to its age. It has been rewired and PAT tested to UK standards.

Salvino Marsura (1938–2020) was an artisan metalworker. After learning his craft in the dynamic workshop of sculptor and ‘iron poet’ Toni Benetton, he spent more than 60 years producing sculpture, furniture, objects and memorials in his hometown of Treviso, Italy.

Marsura’s ironwork relishes in the manual aesthetic of the forge, giving voice to the raw metal and the processes of its manipulation including sweltering heat, hammering, bending and welding. His distinctive hand marries elements of brutalism and traditional decorative arts.
