Pair of Art Deco stools

A happy sense of symmetry defines this pair of newly upholstered Italian Art Deco stools. Solid geometric volumes — almost architectural in presence — feature flanked sides that rise to equal height, forming a strong U-shaped silhouette.

The crisp streamlining of form is softened by the gentle slope of the sides and the spherical feet, which lend a sense of both weightlessness and whimsy. This intention of line in woodwork positions this pair along the works of Italian designers like Osvaldo Borsani and Guglielmo Ulrich.
