A mirror that holds the mark of the forge. This French fer forgé bevelled mirror features a geometric frame, flanked by spiralling, rosette-like flourishes. The manual craft of ironwork is tactile and evident — see the stamped circles, linear hatching and the hand-cut finishes, and twisted iron rods across the frame.
The mirror carries traces of 1930s Art Deco: the geometry, the striated bars, yet the piece remains distinctive through its evidence of the maker’s hand.
Heavy foxing marks the mirror, with wear and slight oxidisation in places. The mirror is signed.
