Thomas Wheller Salt and Vinegar chair

Born using electrochemical etching the aluminium is painted and then scratched to reveal the metal underneath. The sheet is then placed in a solution of water, salt and vinegar with a small electric current running through, eroding the exposed metal and producing fold lines and textured embellishments. The metal is then folded across the fold lines, like origami, to produce the chair.

The metal has a lovely patinaed finish, a by-product of the electrochemical etching process. The chair has recently been reinforced to provide some extra strength.
