A striking sculptural metal club armchair by German architect Peter Thode, crafted from solid steel sheeting, pipe and black leather. It is a statement piece with an incredible weight to it, one of two in existence. We present the chair with copies of the original dated sketches and photos of it in construction. It was completed in 1992.
The robust form is provided some relief through the soft curvature of the backrest and sides. The punchy detail is the large tubular arms, allowing you to see all the way through the chair. The metal shows several signs of ageing all over with faint marks and a desirable patina. The leather elements also show signs of age but have no serious damages, they are down filled.
