Italian designer Aldo Tura (1909–1963) experimented extensively with hand-applied craft processes and finishes in his Milan workshop. He is best known for his tables and lamps, which drew on shapes from the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements. His minimalist designs allowed materials such as parchment, eggshell and goatskin to take centre stage.
This side table duo are typical of Tura’s rational silhouettes. The wooden frame, with its chamfered edging, is covered in cream goatskin and then sealed with clear varnish.
In good vintage condition, with some hairline scratches, small bumps and discolouration.
