The late Ingo Maurer (1932 – 2019), founder of design company Design M in Munich, designed intriguing lighting for over 40 years. His output is distinctive in form and concept. His desire to innovate with materials, processes and aesthetics has lead to some highly eccentric works.
This large table lamp was designed by Wilhelm Zanoth and Maurer together in 1974. The lamp’s base and shade are made from thin slices of dark cork sheet veneer. The lamp’s minimalist cylindrical base and conical shade, natural facade and unusually large size make them highly distinctive and sought after. The one pictured is sold, however the one available is all in very good vintage condition. Shade has some scuffing to the rim. Rewired and PAT tested.
