Oscar Tusquets Blanca is a Catalan “architect by training, a designer by adaptation, a painter by vocation and a writer through the desire to make friends.” Graduating from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura, he set up a practice with fellow architects Iluís Clotet, Pep Bonet and Cristian Cirici, later creating furniture and objects under the company B D Ediciones de Diseño. His output as a furniture designer often demonstrates a refined playfulness with both form and material. He has collaborated with prestigious manufacturers such as Alessi, Zanotta, Cassina and Moroso and his designs feature in important collections worldwide.
The Trebol side table designed by Tusquets in 1993 for Casas, Spain is made from a moulded fiberglass base, in the shape of a warped cone covered with leather. This organic sinusoid tapers up to circular glass top, which appears to float on the frame.
Good condition, adhesive discoloured slightly with age, the table is also missing a small wooden lip under the leather base, which shows some signs of age consistent with age and use. The glass top is in excellent condition.
