Milanese architect Mario Bellini is well known for creating monumental and conceptual pieces of design, such as the Camaleonda sofa (1971), seen in our other listings. His distinctive architecture and design practice has won him many accolades and afforded him to work with Italy’s most renowned manufacturers.
This stunning minimalist table designed by Bellini is made purely from one material, solid travertine. An oval top with a reversed step edge profile sits elegantly on four cylindrical columns. This table is a sought after piece, particularly with interior designers and architects perhaps due to the monumental presence it commands within a space. This exact version is a very rare thing to come across. It delivers impact without being fussy or outlandish. The table is in remarkable condition for its age and use with a few natural holes across the surfaces of the legs which is a feature innate to travertine stone. There are also one or two very slight surface imperfections to the top and one faint scratch right in the middle of the tables top.
