Maria Vlandi is a Greek fine art ceramic sculptor who has exhibited internationally. Vlandi primarily uses stoneware clay to create abstracted and monumental forms, presenting her own discourse on form and space. As much about voids as matter, Vlandi also experiments with mark-making and surface texture, inspired by the animistic Theology of Lucio Fontana, and Sumerian sculptors from 5,000 years ago.
This sculpture, entitled Pitcher in ceramic ‘Sans titre’ (Untitled) is an excellent example of Vlandi’s work both on a technical level and a conceptual one. With an earthy glaze covering the surface. This piece is a one-off work that has been signed and dated underside. In excellent condition.
