Encapsulating the preoccupations of Belgian artist Kris Martin (born 1972) is his 2004 artwork 100 Years – a golden ball which is set to explode on its centenary in 2104. His work engages with matters of time, consciousness, and mortality – all with a sense of detached wit and a keen eye for formal boldness.
‘Life after Death’ encapsulates his artistic concerns, combining humour, existential questions and a sparing deployment of form and material. It condenses the essential message of a holy mass into six words, and a workaday typeface, containing a metaphysical imponderable through the tightest, glibbest, of means.
It comes in good condition and is newly reframed.
