Anthroposophy was a philosophy created by Rudolf Steiner (1861-1925) an Austrian philosopher, scientist and artist. His philosophical concept was founded on the idea that human intellect is capable of communicating with a spiritual realm. Steiner built approximately thirteen buildings that expressed his philosophy. Aesthetically, the movement took established silhouettes and morphed them into warped geometries often comprised of multifaceted angular surfaces.
This chair is an excellent example of the Anthroposophical style. It is a handcrafted piece that is most likely unique. Made from solid oak, its geometries are highly unusual and incredibly well fabricated. It is in excellent condition having been refinished and reupholstered.
