Claudio Salocchi (1934 to 2012) was a highly regarded designer and architect, known for detailed research into furniture layouts. As a result, we see innovative compositions without compromise on function.
The Paione modular sofa designed for Sormani, consists of four modular elements. Two have integrated backrests. The other two can be used as footstools, joining with the other to extend the sofa’s length or put one’s feet up. Each unit is made from foam affixed to a plastic tray which is incredibly lightweight. The cushions have chamfered edges, so they slot in place, but remaining loose for removal/cleaning. We upholstered this sofa in beautiful and natural aniline-dyed leather from Denmark. It is extremely soft to the touch and will age and patina with use.
