Inspired by the Japanese aesthetics of wabi-sabi and furoshiki, Christian Astuguevieille (1946 – present) aims to create tactile works that elicit sensory reactions. The playful nature of his pieces naturally invites people to see spaces and objects in new ways. This rope table is no exception to that rule. Creating a rough yet smooth surface through the spiralling of the rope. Reminiscent of the 1940s French rope-cord works of Frida Minet and Adrien Audoux.
Good vintage condition, condition consistent with age and use.
