Carlo Hauner Martin Eisler Shell chairs

The emerging interest in Brazilian design and manufacturing is palpable across both contemporary and mid-century design. The Shell lounge chair is establishing itself as an icon of the latter, designed by Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler were an Italian-Austrian duo based in Brazil. They co-founded the company Forma Moveis and worked both together and individually on a large number of designs. Due to an unfortunate studio fire a large proportion of their work was lost, making the pieces that did survive incredibly rare and collectable. This particular design is characterised by its enveloping and elegant seat and thin metal framework.
