Burkhard Vogtherr (1942-2019) once stated “I would like to become simpler and simpler. To me this means better and better.” As a young man, Vogtherr had trained as an industrial designer at the Werkkunstschulen Kassel and Wuppertal and worked for Vitra before joining Rosenthal Einrichtung in 1972. He was encouraged to be experimental, and his furniture reflects his spirit of radicalism and openness to current design trends. The ‘Mecum Tecum’ sofa is an expression of this philosophy: it is a multifunctional item which can be cleverly transformed into a reclining seat or double bed.
It has been reupholstered in a gorgeous Pierre Frey Yeti in Quinoa, which transforms this innovative design into an object of sumptuous beauty.
