Aldo Tura (1909-1963) was a hands-on designer who experimented greatly with traditional craftsmanship hand applied craft processes and finishes out of his workshop in Milan. He is best known for his tables and lamps, which drew on shapes from the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements. His designs were minimal allowing interesting materials such as parchment, eggshell and goatskin to be centre stage.
This sideboard is excellent example of Tura’s ethos, simple shape, with soft edge profile and raised on four squared feet. The internal area is comprised of two compartments each with an adjustable shelf. The doors need some slight adjusting to hang perfectly however, apart from that this piece is in excellent condition. In another listing we have a matching oval table.
