A winner of several design awards and a permanent part of the collection of MoMA, the ‘NY’ chair is a highly esteemed example of modern design. Created in 1958 by Japanese designer Takeshi Nii, the format of the chair was inspired by foldaway director’s chairs. It was named in honour of the designer’s family name, but it also means ‘new’ in Danish – a gesture of homage to mid-century Scandinavian furniture. The ‘Ny’ chair folds into a slender size when not required but offers a deceptively comfortable seating experience.
Wear consistent with age. Structurally sound but very visible repair to the leather seat. Some wear to original wood finish, refinishing on request.
