Early 1940s Danish Banana two seater loveseat sofa in the manner of architect Flemming Lassen, newly reupholstered in Zimmer and Rohde linen weave. The sofa is of excellent craftsmanship, probably made by Slagelse Møbelværk, Denmark using proper materials – solid beech, metal springs, jute & horsehair. The shape is enveloping and comfortable. And the fabric has been scotchguarded. Slagelse Møbelværk was a famous Danish maker for many of the great designers such as architect Flemming Lassen (1902-1984) and Viggo Boesen, but went out of business in 1978. These sofas were made during the 30s and 40s, as documented at the Cabinet Maker’s Autumn Exhibition 1935.
