Wim Rietveld De Bijenkorf bookcase

Following in his father Gerrit’s footsteps and firmly in the tradition of the De Stijl movement, the bookcase was designed on commission and sold exclusively through Amsterdam department store De Bijenkorf. The equivalent of Heals in London, it was renowned for selling the most forward thinking design of the time. A striking and sculptural piece with a simple construction of folded sheet steel.
