Luca Meda grew up and studied in Milan, graduating from the renowned Art School of Brera in the heart of the city. He continued his studies in Germany, at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Ulm, which was one of the world’s most prestigious design schools, directed by designer Max Bill. Meda’s love for Milan and its rich historical buildings, anonymous houses, discreet interiors and high-quality product design contributed to his refined design sensibilities.
This wall mounted shelving unit is extremely well made and engineered. The unit conceals an innovative mechanism within allowing for the shelves to be independently closed and opened with few signs of the mechanics on show. When fully retracted this piece of furniture looks like a minimal wall hung sculpture however, each of the six shelved can be folded down to offer a neat shelving solution. The shelves can take considerable weight and are rationally arranged to be pleasing to the eye regardless of how it is used.
The unit is in good vintage condition with minor traces of use. The considerable weight of this piece means it is only suitable to install on solid walls or into studs.
