Pierre Guariche was a well known and collected experimental interior designer, furniture designer and architect. After World War II, manufacturing of materials and processes developed during the war were embrassed by a new wave of designers. Guariche founded an association called Atelier de Recherche Plastique or ARP with Michel Mortier and Joseph-André Motte that aimed to refine the manipulation of plastics within the household. Guariche later became the artistic director of Meurop, a company that strived to create refined yet economical pieces of furniture. This Fibreglass chair is a fantastic example of Guariche’s aesthetic as it features his signature scooped bucket seat more commonly seen with a thin cutout at the back. The seat is fixed to the metal tubular legs with four rivets. In good vintage conditon with some wear to the legs.
