Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) was a French craftsman who specialised in handmade wooden furniture using traditional craftsmanship. The S10 chair is crafted from solid elm and cognac leather with a pleasing aged patina.
The chair’s detailing at first glance is restrained, but on closer inspection can be seen to be exquisitely refined with his trademark mortise and tenon joints. These 48×72 joins, feature a complex series of cuts that enable fastening without screws. The straps are inset into the arms, while the leather seat and backrest are bound by rope. The chair is in good vintage condition, with light staining to the leather and minor marks to the frame. The chair has been cleaned and leather conditioned by our restorers.
