Marco Zanuso first edition Maggiolina armchair

This is a first edition of Zanuso’s Maggiolina lounge chair. The structure is formed of curved steel tubing from which a burlap leather ‘bag’ is hung. The Maggiolina chair was originally designed for a competition held by the MoMa in New York and it has remained an icon of twentieth-century design ever since.

The leather is in lovely vintage condition. Other versions of the Maggiolina chair can be found with accompanying cushions, however this particular piece has been left without the cushions to allow for the admiration of the wear of the original leather. Cushions can be made upon request.

Signs of age to the leather and chrome.
