Marco Zanuso jr. (b. 1954 Milan, Italy) is an Italian architect and designer who started his journey with an experimental university thesis on radical architecture and its characters: Ettore Sottsass, Michele De Lucchi, Andrea Branzi and Alessandro Mendini, who he would later work alongside. After graduation, he worked with Marco Zanuso sr. and as an assistant to design greats Enzo Mari and Achille Castiglioni, before collaborating with Memphis Milano from 1987- 1988, creating pieces such as the Antonio and the Cleopatra side tables, both part of David Bowie collection.
This lamp appears an early precursor to the shape he developed for the Cleopatra table, designed for Memphis Milano in 1987 in laminated maple. The maple wood has been worked by hand and the elegant amoebic frosted-glass shade is hand or mouth blown. A really special one off piece.
