The Sénoufo stool is rooted in Ghanaian woodcarving tradition and the Sénoufo tribes of Mali and the Ivory Coast. It is said to be a seat for the soul.
This old example is crafted from a single piece of dark weathered hardwood, into a crescent-shaped seat. Pretty impressive considering the density of the wood involved. Its simple form and small size lend itself to decorative use; the depth of its grain, surface cracks and patina giving it charm.
