Luigi Caccia Dominioni was a Milanese architect considered to be a leading pioneer in the field of industrial design. Graduating from Milan’s renowned polytechnic, he made a name for himself in the design world through collaborating with Pier and Giacomo Castiglioni, developing a series of cutting edge radios. In 1947 he cofounded Azucena along with Ignazio Gardella, the Catalina chair is perhaps their most sought after product. Their unusual curved steel frames and delicate form make it instantly recognisable. Ours are in excellent condition and had thier pads reupholstered in a luxurious fabric by Sandra Jordan. It is made from an incredibly soft deep pile prima alpaca fleece. The fibres are glossy and maintain the lustre very well.
