Early 1940s Danish Banana sofa in the manner of architect Flemming Lassen, newly reupholstered in genuine lambs wool. The sofa is of excellent craftsmanship, made by Slagelse Møbelværk, Denmark using proper materials – solid beech, metal springs, jute, horsehair and now 15 pelts! The shape is enveloping and comfortable. The lambswool makes it extra cosy – the lanolin a natural stain-resistor. Slagelse Møbelværk was a famous Danish maker for many of the great designers such as architect Flemming Lassen (1902-1984) and Viggo Boesen, but went out of business in 1978. These sofas were made during the 30s and 40s, as documented at the Cabinet Maker’s Autumn Exhibition 1935.
